DSC2/3 Antibody (7G6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DSC2/3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). DSC2/3 (7G6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DSC2/3 protein plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, being a member of the desmoglein family, which are type I membrane proteins predominantly expressed at desmosomes—specialized cell junctions that provide mechanical strength to tissues. These proteins are essential for maintaining structural integrity of epithelial tissues, as DSC2/3 facilitates strong intercellular adhesion. DSC2 interacts homophilically with itself and heterophilically with desmoglein 2, contributing to adhesive properties of skin and other stratified epithelia. DSC2 and DSC3 presence in suprabasal layers of epidermis underscores their importance in skin health and disease, as disruptions in DSC2/3 function can lead to various skin disorders. DSC3 is expressed in multiple epithelial layers and structures, including glandular ducts and hair follicle sheaths, highlighting DSC3′s diverse roles in maintaining epithelial architecture and function.
