SEE ALSO...

Doublecortin Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Doublecortin, a critical microtubule-associated protein involved in neuronal migration and brain development, across mouse, rat, and human species using applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Doublecortin antibody (E-6) targets an epitope encompassing amino acids 81-365 at the C-terminus of human Doublecortin, ensuring precise recognition and minimal cross-reactivity. Doublecortin, also called DC, DCX, DBCN, LISX, SCLH, and XLIS, plays a vital role in stabilizing microtubules, which is essential for proper migration of neurons during cerebral cortex development. By facilitating transport of neuronal precursors to appropriate locations, Doublecortin ensures formation of a functional and structurally sound brain. Mutations in the DCX gene lead to severe mental retardation and abnormal brain architecture, causing neurodevelopmental disorders such as lissencephaly and double cortex syndrome. Doublecortin maintains structural integrity of neuronal processes, crucial for synaptic plasticity and overall brain function. Doublecortin monoclonal antibody (E-6) is available in both non-conjugated form and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing researchers with versatile options for diverse experimental needs. Anti-Doublecortin antibody (E-6) supports advanced studies in neuroscience, developmental biology, and molecular mechanisms underlying neurological disorders, making this tool invaluable for understanding brain development and associated pathologies.

I've used DCX antibody E-6 and C-18 both. I've checked the DCX signal like branch shape in C-18 antibody, but I couldn't on E-6. so, i want to see some more pictures of DCX signal in brain. may I ?

There was a mistake on the recipient and they put the Doublecortin Antibody (E-6) sc-271390 at -20 degrees for 3 hours. Does this affect the quality of the antibody or should it be fine?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. We do not recommend freezing our antibodies because they contain a small percentage of gelatin in the buffer as a stabilizing protein. Upon freezing, this can compromise the quality of the antibodies. However, if it was only frozen for 3 hours then we would still recommend testing the antibody because it may not have been compromised in such a short time.

Why in the western blot image for mouse postnatal brain sample we see so many bands for doublecortin?

Asked by: Karishma
Thank you for your question, and for pointing attention to this image. Doublecortin is a hightly phosphorylated protein and in some samples it will detect post-translational modifications if they are present in the sample. We will take a look at this, it's a really strong and specific antibody for this target.

Hello, please does this antibody react with avian species? Am working on Neurogenesis on the QUAIL brain. I saw that the older antibody goat anti-DCX C-18: SC-8066 react with avain species. DOES the goat anti-DCX (E-6): sc-271390 reacts with avians

Asked by: asamcy
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we have not tested on bird samples, so it is not recommended or warrantied for that use. That said, we do have a publication in avian samples (chick, PMID: 25086319), so it very well may work fine for Quail samples.

I wish to use this antibody (Doublecortin Antibody (E-6): sc-271390) against avian species. Can I get the information regarding the peptide sequence against which this antibody is designed?

Asked by: Pooja1
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the exact epitope of this antibody has not been mapped, so I do not have that information. We do have a previous publication in avian samples (PMID: 25086319), maybe that is helpful for you.

I am going to use Doublecortin (sc-271390 ) for IHC. my queries are 1. Will this be suitable for both IHC (paraformaldehyde fixed frozen sections) and Western blotting? 2. Could you suggest me a compatible secondary for this primary?

Asked by: Senthil
Thank you for your question. Yes, this antibody is recommended for both IHC on frozen sections and Western blot, so it is a great choice. I would recommend our new Mouse IgG binding protein for both WB and IHC, you can find them here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-130b1ry These are optimzed for these applications and we have had excellent results with them. We would be happy to send you samples of both the primary and the secondary reagents if you would like to try them! Please contact Technical Service by phone, (800)-457-3801 option 2, email <scbt@scbt.com>, or by live chat directly on our website, www.scbt.com for any sample requests or questions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice signal for Western blotThis antibody works nicely on Western blot samples from rat hippocampus. A clear double-band can be detected between 37 and 50 kDa, corresponding to the expected molecular weight of the protein. Antibody dilution: 1:500 in PBST with 5% nonfat dry milk.
