DBP Antibody (2B12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Vitamin D-binding protein (DBP) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. DBP, also known as group-specific component protein or GC, is a multi-functional serum protein primarily located in the extracellular space, where DBP plays a crucial role in the transportation of vitamin D and its metabolites to target organs within the vitamin D endocrine system. DBP′s ability to bind to plasma membranes of various cell types is essential for mediating diverse cellular functions, including immunomodulatory properties, which enhance the chemotactic activity of C5a by acting as a co-chemotactic factor. Additionally, DBP′s interaction with globular actin is significant for the clearance of actin from the bloodstream, highlighting DBP′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis. DBP binding to cell surfaces through chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans is vital for osteoclast differentiation and other biological processes, underscoring DBP′s structural and functional integrity in various physiological contexts.
