Cytokeratin 3/2p Antibody (AE5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Cytokeratin 3/2p protein in mouse, rat, human, rabbit, and bovine samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Cytokeratin 3/2p antibody (AE5) comes in non-conjugated forms and various conjugates, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® options. Cytokeratin 3/2p is a type II cytokeratin mainly found in corneal epithelium, where Cytokeratin 3/2p maintains structural integrity and mechanical stability of epithelial cells. Cytokeratin 3/2p, together with Cytokeratin 12, forms a resilient barrier against environmental stressors in corneal epithelium. Mutations in genes encoding Cytokeratin 3 and Cytokeratin 12 can cause Meesmann corneal dystrophy, a genetic condition marked by corneal epithelium fragility, highlighting these proteins′ role in ocular health. Cytokeratin 2p, also known as Keratin 76, appears in palate epithelium and shares significant sequence similarity with Cytokeratin 3, showcasing how these cytokeratins work together in epithelial tissue function and pathology.
