Cytohesin-2 Antibody (CYT2-21) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects cytohesin-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cytohesin-2, also known as ARNO (ARF nucleotide-binding-site opener), functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for ARF-1, playing a crucial role in vesicle budding, which is essential for intracellular transport and communication. Cytohesin-2′s structure includes an N-terminal coiled-coil domain, a Sec 7 domain that facilitates GDP/GTP exchange, and a C-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain that binds to phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2). This binding enhances cytohesin-2′s GEF activity by recruiting cytohesin-2 to the plasma membrane, where cytohesin-2 can effectively stimulate nucleotide exchange on ARF1 and ARF6. Localization of cytohesin-2 to the plasma membrane in mammalian cells underscores cytohesin-2′s importance in regulating membrane dynamics and vesicle trafficking, making cytohesin-2 a vital component in cellular signaling pathways. Anti-cytohesin-2 antibody (CYT2-21) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying these processes and their implications in various biological contexts.
