SEE ALSO...

cystatin A Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cystatin A protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-cystatin A antibody (B-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cystatin A, also known as STF1, STFA, stefin A, or cystatin AS, is a crucial thiol protease inhibitor that plays a significant role in regulating proteolytic activity within cells. Cystatin A is primarily located in the cytoplasm and serves as one of the precursor proteins of the cornified cell envelope in keratinocytes, which is essential for epidermal development and maintenance. Proper functioning of cystatin A is vital for skin integrity, helping prevent excessive proteolysis that can lead to skin disorders. Cystatin A forms complexes with various proteases, including papain and cathepsins B, H, and L, thereby modulating their activity and contributing to the balance of proteolytic processes in the skin.

I am using cystatin A (B-11): sc-376759 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
