CYP8B1 Antibody (M15-P3B7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CYP8B1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CYP8B1 (M15-P3B7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CYP8B1, also known as sterol 12-alpha-hydroxylase, plays a crucial role in bile acid synthesis, which is essential for the digestion and absorption of dietary fats and fat-soluble vitamins. Located primarily in the liver, CYP8B1 is responsible for moderating the ratio of cholic acid to chenodeoxycholic acid, thereby influencing cholesterol solubility and preventing the formation of gallstones. The gene encoding human CYP8B1 is situated on chromosome 3p22.1 and encodes a 501-amino acid protein that is intronless, with its promoter being transactivated by hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α. Notably, disruption of CYP8B1 gene in mice leads to the absence of cholate, a primary bile acid, highlighting its vital role in maintaining bile acid homeostasis and overall metabolic health.
