SEE ALSO...

CYP46 Antibody (1F11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CYP46 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-CYP46 antibody (1F11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CYP46, also known as CYP46A1, is a crucial enzyme located in the endoplasmic reticulum, where CYP46 plays a vital role in cholesterol metabolism by converting cholesterol into 24S-hydroxycholesterol and, to a lesser extent, 25-hydroxycholesterol. This conversion is essential for maintaining cholesterol homeostasis in the brain, as excess cholesterol can lead to neurodegenerative conditions. Notably, variations in the CYP46 gene that affect function have been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer′s disease, highlighting CYP46′s significance in neurological health. With a sequence identity of 95% to its mouse counterpart, CYP46 is predominantly expressed in brain tissue, underscoring CYP46′s importance in central nervous system function and the regulation of cholesterol levels.

Are there any issues with using sc-136148: CYP46 (1F11) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-136148 conjugates.
