Cylicin-1 Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Cylicin-1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cylicin-1 (B-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cylicin-1 plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of the sperm head, specifically within the cytoskeletal calyx that encases part of the nucleus. This calyx is essential for maintaining the shape and stability of sperm during spermiogenesis, which is vital for successful fertilization. Cylicin-1, a member of the multiple band proteins family, features a unique arrangement of repeating units that form short alpha-helices, interspersed with linker segments, contributing to structural properties. The C-terminal tail of Cylicin-1 is rich in proline, which may influence interactions with other proteins and overall function. Cylicin-1 is exclusively expressed in the calyx of human and bovine spermatozoa, highlighting a specialized role in reproductive biology.
