SEE ALSO...

CXCL16 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CXCL16 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-CXCL16 antibody (C-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CXCL16, also known as SR-PSOX (scavenger receptor for phosphatidylserine and oxidized lipoprotein), plays a crucial role in immune response by binding to the CXCR6 receptor, which is essential for the chemotactic migration of immune cells to sites of inflammation. This interaction not only induces a strong chemotactic response but also triggers calcium mobilization, highlighting CXCL16′s importance in regulating immune cell trafficking and activation. Structurally, CXCL16 is classified as an alpha (CXC) chemokine, exhibiting features of CC chemokines and sharing a similar structure to fractalkine, characterized by a transmembrane region and a chemokine domain connected by a mucin-like stalk. Northern blot analysis has revealed the presence of a 2.2-kb CXCL16 transcript in various human tissues, including the spleen, lymph nodes, Peyer patches, lung, kidney, small intestine, and thymus, with minimal expression in the heart and liver, and absent in the brain and bone marrow. Flow cytometry (FCM) and western blotting (WB) further confirm the expression of a glycosylated cell-surface protein and a soluble protein in cell supernatants, underscoring CXCL16′s diverse functional roles in both cellular and soluble forms.
