SEE ALSO...

CUTC Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CUTC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CUTC (E-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CUTC protein, also known as CGI-32, is a 273 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in copper homeostasis, acting as a transporter that facilitates the movement of copper ions across cellular membranes. This function is vital because copper is an essential micronutrient that serves as a co-factor for numerous enzymes involved in critical biological processes, including energy production and antioxidant defense. However, due to the high toxicity of copper, copper metabolism must be tightly regulated; dysregulation can lead to severe health issues such as Menkes disease, characterized by copper deficiency, or Wilson disease, which results in copper accumulation and associated organ damage. CUTC gene is located on human chromosome 10, a region that also harbors the important tumor suppressor gene PTEN, which is implicated in Cowden syndrome when mutated. Understanding the interactions and regulatory mechanisms of CUTC protein is essential for elucidating its role in both normal physiology and disease states.
