SEE ALSO...

CSB Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CSB protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CSB antibody (D-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CSB protein, also known as excision repair cross-complementing protein-6 (ERCC-6), plays a crucial role in the nucleotide excision repair pathway, specifically in the repair of DNA lesions that occur on the transcribed strand of active genes. This preferential repair mechanism, known as transcription-coupled repair, is vital for maintaining genomic stability and preventing mutations that can lead to diseases such as Cockayne syndrome, a disorder characterized by sensitivity to UV light and developmental defects. Mutations in CSB gene disrupt this repair process, leading to the accumulation of DNA damage in actively transcribed regions, which underscores CSB′s importance in cellular response to DNA damage and overall cellular health.

Does this antibody recognize mouse CSB?

Asked by: Sarah Shuck
Thank you for your question. We have not yet tested this antibody, CSB (D-7): sc-166042, for reactivity with mouse samples and so this species reactivity is not currently recommended at this time. For detection of CSB of mouse origin, we would recommend an alternative antibody, CSB (E-6): sc-398022, which has been tested for reactivity with mouse, rat and human samples. A link to that product information is provided below as a reference. https://www.scbt.com/scbt/product/csb-antibody-e-6

I am using CSB (D-7): sc-166042 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jenniferc
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
