SEE ALSO...

CRABP-I/II Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CRABP-I/II protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CRABP-I/II (F-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The cellular retinoic acid-binding proteins, CRABP-I and CRABP-II, play crucial roles in regulating retinoic acid (RA), a vital molecule involved in cell growth and differentiation across various tissues. CRABP-I functions primarily to inhibit RA activity by promoting expression of enzymes that metabolize RA, thereby facilitating RA degradation. In contrast, CRABP-II enhances RA′s effects by directly interacting with retinoic acid receptors (RAR), leading to formation of RAR-RA complexes that stimulate gene transcription associated with RA signaling. Both isoforms are expressed during embryonic development, with CRABP-I being widely distributed in adult tissues, while CRABP-II is predominantly found in tissues that produce significant amounts of RA, such as skin, uterus, ovary, and choroid plexus. Understanding distinct roles of these proteins is essential for elucidating contributions to developmental processes and potential implications in various diseases.

Can CRABP-I/II (F-9): sc-166897 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. Yes, CRABP-I/II (F-9): sc-166897 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
