COX6b1 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects COX6b1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-COX6b1 antibody (C-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The cytochrome c oxidase (COX) family, to which COX6b1 belongs, plays a critical role in cellular respiration as the final electron donor in the electron transport chain, facilitating the creation of a proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane, which is essential for ATP production. COX6b1, specifically known as cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIb polypeptide 1, is a nuclear-encoded subunit that localizes to the intermembrane space of mitochondria, where COX6b1 is crucial for the assembly of the COX dimer, composed of two monomers, each containing 13 subunits derived from both mitochondrial and nuclear origins. COX6b1 is highly expressed in oocytes and zygotes, indicating COX6b1′s importance in early developmental stages; while COX6b1 is not essential for the initial phases of embryogenesis, COX6b1 becomes critical during the blastocyst stage. The absence or silencing of the COX6b1 gene leads to mitochondrial dysfunction, which can trigger apoptosis in blastocyst-stage embryos, underscoring COX6b1′s vital role in early development and cellular energy metabolism.
