COX6b1 Antibody (77.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects COX6b1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COX6b1, or cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIb polypeptide 1, plays a crucial role in the assembly of the cytochrome c oxidase (COX) complex, which is essential for cellular respiration and energy production. COX6b1 is located on the intermembrane side of the inner mitochondrial membrane, where COX6b1 facilitates the dimerization of the COX complex, a process vital for enzymatic function. The proper assembly and function of COX are critical for maintaining the proton gradient necessary for ATP synthesis, and any disruption in this process can lead to severe metabolic dysfunction. Notably, COX6b1 is highly expressed in oocytes and zygotes, indicating COX6b1′s importance during early developmental stages, particularly at the blastocyst stage, where COX6b1′s absence can trigger mitochondrial dysfunction and subsequent apoptosis of embryos.
