SEE ALSO...

Contactin 1 Antibody (41) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Contactin 1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Contactin 1 antibody (41) is available as the non-conjugated format. Contactin 1 plays a critical role in the nervous system, particularly in the formation and maintenance of myelinated axons, which are essential for efficient signal transmission in neurons. Contactin 1 is primarily located at the paranodal regions of myelinated axons, where Contactin 1 interacts with other proteins to facilitate the clustering of voltage-gated sodium channels. This localization is crucial because Contactin 1 ensures proper functioning of action potentials and contributes to overall integrity of the myelin sheath. Disruptions in Contactin 1 function or expression can lead to neurological disorders, highlighting Contactin 1′s importance in maintaining neuronal health and communication. The human Contactin 1 gene encodes a 1,018 amino acid protein, which is part of a larger family of cell adhesion molecules that are vital for synaptic plasticity and neuronal connectivity.

I am using Contactin 1 (41): sc-136133 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
