SEE ALSO...

connexin 46 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects connexin 46 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-connexin 46 antibody (C-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. connexin 46 protein, also known as gap junction protein alpha 3, plays a crucial role in cell communication by forming gap junctions that allow the passage of ions and small molecules between adjacent cells. This intercellular communication is vital for maintaining tissue homeostasis and coordinating cellular responses, particularly in the lens of the eye where connexin 46 is predominantly expressed. Disruption of connexin 46 function can lead to severe consequences, such as the development of cataracts, highlighting connexin 46′s importance in lens transparency and overall eye health. The unique structure of connexin proteins, characterized by four transmembrane α-helical domains and specific extracellular loops, contributes to their ability to form functional channels with distinct properties, which are essential for various physiological processes.
