COASY Antibody (SS06) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects COASY in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COASY, also known as coenzyme A synthase, plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA), a vital cofactor involved in various metabolic pathways, including carbohydrate, amino acid, and fatty acid metabolism. The importance of CoA cannot be overstated, as CoA serves as the primary carrier of acetyl and acyl groups, acting as a substrate for approximately 4% of all cellular enzymes. COASY is a bifunctional enzyme that exhibits both pantetheine-phosphate adenylyltransferase and dephospho-coenzyme A kinase activities, catalyzing critical steps in the CoA biosynthetic pathway. COASY is predominantly localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane, where COASY facilitates the conversion of 4′-phosphopantetheine to dephospho-CoA, ultimately leading to the generation of CoA. Additionally, alternative splicing of the COASY gene results in the expression of an isoform known as COASY β, which contains an extra 29 amino acids at the N-terminus and is specifically expressed in the brain. Anti-COASY antibody (SS06) is an essential tool for researchers studying the intricate roles of CoA in cellular metabolism and its implications in various biological processes.
