CNTFRα Antibody (AN-B2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the CNTFRα protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CNTFRα antibody (AN-B2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CNTFRα plays a crucial role in the signaling pathway of ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), a neurotrophic cytokine essential for the survival and differentiation of various neuronal cell types, including sensory, sympathetic, and motor neurons. The CNTFR complex, which consists of CNTFRα, a specific chain for CNTF, and a heterodimer of the gp130 chain and LIFRb chain, is vital for mediating the effects of CNTF and related cytokines. Notably, CNTFRα is involved in the activation of transcription factors Stat1 and Stat3, which are critical for promoting DNA synthesis and neuronal health. The importance of CNTFRα is underscored by implications in neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS); while CNTF is known to support neuronal survival, the absence of CNTFRα leads to severe motor neuron deficits and perinatal lethality in homozygous null mutation mice, indicating an essential role in the development of the neonatal nervous system.
