CMV pp86 Antibody (12E2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CMV pp86 protein of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-CMV pp86 antibody (12E2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CMV pp86 protein, also known as UL122, IE2, or IE86, plays a crucial role during active CMV infection by interacting with other immediate early proteins, such as CMV pp72, to enhance HLA-G expression, a non-classical major histocompatibility complex class I molecule. This interaction is significant as HLA-G is involved in immune evasion, allowing the virus to persist in the host by inhibiting immune response activation. Additionally, CMV pp86 is essential for activating CMV immediate early promoter, which is stimulated by inflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin 1 beta, and interleukin 4, thereby facilitating viral replication and pathogenesis. Understanding CMV pp86 function is vital for developing therapeutic strategies against CMV infections, particularly in immunocompromised patients who are at higher risk for severe disease.
