SEE ALSO...

CMV pp28 Antibody (5C3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects the CMV pp28 protein of CMV origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-CMV pp28 antibody (5C3) is available as the non-conjugated format. Cytomegalovirus (CMV), also known as human herpesvirus 5 (HHV-5), is a member of the herpes virus family, which includes other notable viruses such as herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Varicella Zoster Virus, and Epstein Barr virus. While CMV typically causes mild symptoms in healthy individuals, CMV can lead to severe complications in immunocompromised patients. The CMV pp28 protein, encoded by the UL99 gene, plays a crucial role in the virus′s life cycle, particularly in the assembly of infectious virions. CMV pp28 is myristylated and is located within the tegument, a protein layer situated between the viral capsid and envelope. Proper localization of CMV pp28 is essential for effective virus assembly, highlighting CMV pp28′s importance in viral replication. Using CMV pp28 (5C3) antibody enables researchers to gain insights into the mechanisms of CMV pathogenesis and CMV pp28′s role in viral assembly, which may inform therapeutic strategies against CMV infections.
