CMC1 Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CMC1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CMC1 Antibody (A-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CMC1, also known as COX assembly mitochondrial protein 1 homolog, consists of 106 amino acids and is primarily localized to the mitochondrion, where CMC1 plays a crucial role in the assembly of cytochrome c oxidase (COX), an essential component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. This assembly is vital for cellular respiration and energy production, as COX is responsible for the reduction of oxygen to water, a key step in the electron transport chain. Additionally, CMC1 binds copper, suggesting CMC1′s involvement in the trafficking of copper to COX and superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1), which are critical for maintaining mitochondrial function and protecting against oxidative stress. CMC1 gene is conserved across various species, including chimpanzees, dogs, cows, mice, chickens, zebrafish, fruit flies, and mosquitoes, and is located on human chromosome 3p24.1, a region associated with several genetic diseases and important tumor suppressor genes.

What blocking solution should I use with CMC1 (A-3): sc-398483 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
