CLCA2 Antibody (1D5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CLCA2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CLCA2 antibody (1D5) is available as the non-conjugated format. The calcium-activated chloride channel (CLCA) protein family, which includes human homologs CLCA1 and CLCA2, plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, particularly in regulating ion transport and mucin secretion in epithelial tissues. CLCA2 is primarily located in epithelial cells of respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, where CLCA2 contributes to maintaining fluid balance and mucosal hydration. This localization is vital for proper respiratory function and gastrointestinal health, as CLCA2 helps regulate mucus viscosity and clearance, thereby protecting against pathogens and facilitating digestion. CLCA2 expression is downregulated in breast cancer, suggesting a potential role as a tumor suppressor in normal cells. Additionally, distinct tissue distribution patterns of CLCA family members, including CLCA1, which is upregulated by interleukin-9 and regulates mucin expression, highlight diverse functions these proteins serve in health and disease.
