SEE ALSO...

CHT1 Antibody (62-2ES) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CHT1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). CHT1 (62-2ES) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The choline transporter 1 (CHT1) plays a crucial role in cholinergic neurotransmission by mediating high-affinity choline uptake, essential for acetylcholine synthesis. This process is particularly important in cholinergic neurons, where choline availability directly influences acetylcholine production and release. CHT1 is predominantly expressed in regions of the nervous system rich in cholinergic cell bodies, such as the spinal cord, brainstem, mid-brain, and striatum, while remaining absent in tissues like the cerebellum and kidney that lack cholinergic cells. CHT1 localizes to specific small vesicles within cholinergic presynaptic terminals, which also contain vesicular acetylcholine transporter and acetylcholine, highlighting functional significance. These vesicles move to the plasma membrane in response to neuronal activity, facilitating choline re-uptake and potentially coupling this process with acetylcholine release, thereby influencing synaptic transmission and plasticity.

Are there any issues with using sc-33713: CHT1 (62-2ES) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-33713 conjugates.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wrong band in western blotThis antibody (1:1000) does not work in WB with whole cell lysates of hippocampus cell line HT-22. You get a clear band and no background signal, but with ~200 kDa this band is far to high compared to the predicted molecular size of 63 kDa.
