CGRP Antibody (4901) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CGRP in mouse, rat, human, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CGRP (4901) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) is a 37-amino acid neuropeptide that plays a crucial role in vasodilation and pain pathway modulation, making CGRP significant in migraine and other vascular disorders. CGRP (4901) monoclonal antibody detects this neuropeptide primarily in the central and peripheral nervous systems, where CGRP is synthesized and released from sensory neurons. CGRP presence in these locations is vital for mediating neurogenic inflammation and regulating blood flow, particularly in conditions such as migraine, where CGRP levels are often elevated. The CGRP gene, CALCA, undergoes alternative splicing to produce different isoforms, including CGRP1 and CGRP2, which exhibit distinct biological activities. Understanding CGRP localization and function is essential for developing targeted therapies for migraine and other related conditions, highlighting anti-CGRP antibody (4901) significance in research and clinical applications.

I want to know if the CGRP Antibody (4901), could be used for the detection of CGRP in human saliva in a study on migraine in patients with neurocysticercosis?

Asked by: Bettsy57
Thank you for your question. This antibody has not been tested on human saliva, but it is recommended for detection of CGRP1 and CGRP2 of mouse, rat, human and canine origin, independent of cell type, by WB, IP, IF and ELISA.

Hi, I am looking for an antibody for human CGRP peptide to be used in western blot, and that would not cross-react with procalcitonin and calcitonin. Which antibody would be best? Thanks, svetlana

Asked by: sreilly
Thank you for your question. Our antibody sc-57053, is specific for CGRP1 and CGRP2, and should not detect calcitonin.

I want to know the size of CGRP in. CGRP Antibody (4901): sc-57053

Asked by: qingyuan li
Thank you for your question. The expected molecular weight of the pro-form of CGRP is approximately 17 kDa, and the active form is approximately 4 kDa.

Why the band of CGRP in WB occurs at near 19kDa in your figure while the molecular weight of CGRP is only around 3.5kDa?

Asked by: Violet_du
Thank you for your question. The active form of this protein is ~4kDa while the pro form (proCGRP) is ~17-19 kDa. Either form can be detected depending on what is present in the cells. Please contact technical service if you need further assistance.
