cGAS Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects cGAS protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cGAS antibody (C-1) is available as the non-conjugated form. cGAS protein, also known as MB21D1, plays a crucial role in innate immune response by acting as a cytosolic DNA sensor. When foreign DNA is detected in cytoplasm, cGAS catalyzes synthesis of cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) from ATP and GTP, which subsequently activates stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway, leading to production of type I interferons. This process is vital for initiating antiviral immune response, as interferons help establish antiviral state in neighboring cells and enhance activity of immune cells. cGAS is expressed in various cell types, including monocytic cell line THP1, and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with its gene located on human chromosome 6q13. cGAS′s ability to recognize cytosolic DNA and trigger robust immune response underscores its importance in defense against viral infections and maintenance of cellular homeostasis.
