CENP-E Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CENP-E protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CENP-E antibody (C-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CENP-E plays a crucial role in chromosome segregation during mitosis, functioning as a motor protein that facilitates the movement of chromosomes to the spindle apparatus. This is vital for ensuring accurate cell division, as improper segregation can lead to aneuploidy, a condition associated with various cancers and genetic disorders. CENP-E is particularly important during the G2 to M phase transition, where CENP-E collaborates with CENP-F to regulate the checkpoint that ensures cells do not enter mitosis with damaged DNA. Additionally, CENP-E is expressed at high levels during meiosis I and II, where CENP-E localizes to the fibrous corona and outer plate of kinetochores on meiotic chromosomes, further underscoring its significance in maintaining genomic stability. CENP-E colocalizes with hBUBR1, a BUB-related kinase, until mid-anaphase, after which CENP-E transitions to the spindle midzone, highlighting its dynamic role in the cell cycle.
