SEE ALSO...

CD83 Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CD83 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CD83 antibody (F-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD83 is a heavily glycosylated membrane protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, primarily expressed in mature dendritic cells, Langerhans cells, and interdigitating reticulum cells within lymphoid tissues. CD83 plays a crucial role in immune response regulation, particularly in the activation and maturation of dendritic cells, which are essential for initiating T cell responses against pathogens and tumors. Structurally, CD83 features an extracellular V-type immunoglobulin-like domain, a single transmembrane domain, and a 40-residue cytoplasmic tail, which are vital for cell signaling and adhesion. CD83 has been identified as a sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) adhesion molecule, facilitating interactions between dendritic cells and monocytes as well as CD8+ T cells, thereby enhancing immune response. CD83 expression serves as a marker for mature antigen-presenting dendritic cells, which generate tumor-specific T cell immunity, highlighting potential as a target for anti-cancer vaccines.
