SEE ALSO...

CD81 Antibody (EAT2) is a hamster monoclonal IgG antibody designed to target CD81 protein, also known as TAPA-1, a type III transmembrane protein integral to the plasma membrane of various cell types. CD81 is widely expressed on cells of hematopoietic, neuroectodermal, and mesenchymal origin, where CD81 plays a crucial role in cell growth, signal transduction, and cellular communication. CD81 protein is located on the cell surface, facilitating interactions within multimolecular complexes that include CD37, CD53, CD19, CD21, and MHC class II antigens, which are essential for immune response regulation and cellular signaling pathways. Anti-CD81 antibody (EAT2) was developed using the CD81+ B lymphoma cell line 38C131 of mouse origin, ensuring effective recognition of CD81 in both mouse and rat species. CD81 monoclonal antibody (EAT2) is recommended for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM) assays. By targeting CD81, CD81 (EAT2) antibody aids researchers in studying the mechanisms of immune cell activation, viral entry processes, and the intricate signaling networks that govern cellular functions. CD81 localization on the cell surface is particularly important for understanding CD81′s role in mediating interactions between cells and their environment, as well as CD81′s involvement in various disease states, including cancer and infectious diseases. Available for use in multiple experimental settings, anti-CD81 antibody (EAT2) provides a valuable tool for advancing research in immunology, cell biology, and therapeutic development.

Can CD81 (EAT2): sc-18877 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD81 (EAT2): sc-18877 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
