CD57 Antibody (HNK-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects CD57 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD57 is a critical cell surface marker primarily expressed on a subset of T lymphocytes known as natural killer (NK) cells, which play a vital role in the immune response by identifying and eliminating infected or malignant cells. The presence of CD57 on T cells is particularly significant as CD57 indicates a state of cellular senescence and is associated with clonal expansion of these cells in various pathological conditions, such as AIDS and post-bone marrow transplantation. Furthermore, CD57-positive cells have been implicated in tumor localization, as CD57-positive cells are often found in high numbers within the tumor microenvironment, and CD57 presence in synovial fluid is a hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis, highlighting CD57′s potential as a biomarker for disease progression and therapeutic targeting.
