CD48 Antibody (OX78) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CD48 protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD48 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in immune responses by acting as a low-affinity receptor for CD2, facilitating interactions between T cells and antigen-presenting cells. This interaction is vital for T cell activation and proliferation, making CD48 an important player in the regulation of immune responses. CD48 is expressed on a variety of immune cells, including all peripheral blood T, B, and null cells, as well as thymocytes, eosinophils, and a subset of bone marrow cells. In mice, CD48 is prominently found on thymocytes, lymph node cells, most macrophages, and bone marrow cells, highlighting its significance in both innate and adaptive immunity.
