CD48 Antibody (MEM-102) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD48 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD48 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in immune responses by acting as a low-affinity receptor for CD2, facilitating cell-cell interactions essential for T cell activation and proliferation. CD48 expression occurs on all peripheral blood T, B, and null cells, as well as on thymocytes and eosinophils, underscoring CD48′s importance in the immune system, particularly in lymphocyte activation and differentiation. CD48 expression extends to various cell types, including hematopoietic and endothelial cells in rats, and on thymocytes, lymph node cells, most macrophages, and bone marrow cells in mice, highlighting CD48′s conserved function across species. CD48 associates with tyrosine kinase Lck, which is vital for T cell receptor signaling, further emphasizing CD48′s significance in modulating immune responses.
