CD46 Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD46 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD46 (C-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD46 protein, also known as membrane cofactor protein (MCP), plays a crucial role in regulating the complement system, which is essential for immune response and tissue homeostasis. CD46 functions by binding to complement components C3b and C4b, facilitating their degradation by serine protease factor I, thereby preventing damage to host tissues during immune responses. This regulatory mechanism is vital for maintaining self-tolerance and preventing autoimmune reactions. CD46 is expressed on a wide range of human cells, including thymocytes, T cells, B cells, monocytes, granulocytes, natural killer cells, platelets, endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, placenta, and sperm, but is absent on erythrocytes. Additionally, CD46 serves as a high-affinity receptor for measles virus and human herpes virus, highlighting CD46′s importance in both immune regulation and viral pathogenesis. Mouse cells express CRRY, a functional ortholog of human CD46, which underscores anti-CD46 antibody (C-10)′s relevance in comparative studies of immune function across species.
