CD2AP Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD2AP of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD2AP (B-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD2-associated protein (CD2AP) plays a crucial role as a cytosolic adaptor molecule that interacts with the intracellular portion of CD2 during T cell activation, facilitating cell adhesion through CD2-mediated binding to ligands on antigen-presenting cells. This interaction enhances antigen-specific T cell activation, promotes cell clustering, and induces cytoskeletal polarization, which are essential processes in the immune response. CD2AP is predominantly expressed in the liver, thymus, and spleen, and CD2AP structure includes three Src Homology 3 (SH3) domains that are critical for binding to CD2. Disruption of this interaction due to mutations in CD2AP can lead to impaired cell clustering and polarization in activated T lymphocytes, highlighting CD2AP importance in T cell function. Studies have shown that mice lacking CD2AP develop a lethal congenital nephrotic syndrome, underscoring CD2AP role in maintaining the integrity of the renal glomerulus.
