CD23 Antibody (HD50) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects CD23 in human samples through applications such as immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD23, also known as the human leukocyte differentiation antigen FCE2, is a type II integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on mature B cells, monocytes, eosinophils, platelets, and dendritic cells, playing a crucial role in the immune response. CD23 functions as a low-affinity IgE receptor, facilitating IgE-dependent cytotoxicity and phagocytosis by macrophages and eosinophils, which is vital for the body′s defense against parasitic infections and allergic reactions. CD23 forms oligomers, requiring cooperative binding of at least two lectin domains for high-affinity IgE binding, and is implicated in antigen presentation by B cells through interaction with CD40. Additionally, CD23 is associated with the Fyn tyrosine kinase, and CD23′s truncated form can be secreted to act as a potent mitogenic growth factor. The ectodomain shedding of CD23 is catalyzed by proteins such as ADAM8, ADAM15, and MDC-L, highlighting CD23′s dynamic role in immune regulation. Notably, intestinal cells express both CD23a and CD23b splice forms, which exhibit different localizations in polarized cells, further emphasizing the complexity and significance of CD23 in immune function.
