CD15s Antibody (5F18) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects CD15s in human samples through flow cytometry (FCM). CD15s, also known as sialyl-Lewis X, is a carbohydrate determinant playing a crucial role in mediating cellular interactions, particularly in leukocyte trafficking to lymphoid organs and sites of inflammation. CD15s is predominantly expressed on the surface of certain cancer cells, including colorectal adenocarcinomas and metastatic liver tumors, where CD15s is associated with the presence of core 2 O-glycans. These glycan structures, synthesized by the enzyme core 2 beta1,6 N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase (C2GnT1), serve as high-affinity ligands for selectins, facilitating the adhesion and migration of leukocytes. The upregulation of CD15s in tumor cells suggests CD15s potential as a tumor-associated antigen, making CD15s a valuable biomarker for early detection of metastasis. Using anti-CD15s antibody (5F18) in research can provide insights into cancer progression mechanisms and selectin roles in immune response, enhancing understanding of both normal physiology and pathological conditions.
