SEE ALSO...

caveolin-1 Antibody (7C8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that targets caveolin-1, also known as CAV1, a principal component of caveolae, small invaginations in the plasma membrane of various cell types. Anti-caveolin-1 antibody (7C8) is raised against purified Glut4 vesicles from adipocytes of rat origin, enabling the detection of caveolin-1 in mouse, rat, human, and, to a lesser extent, hamster samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Caveolin-1 plays a crucial role in the formation and function of caveolae, which are involved in processes like endocytosis, signal transduction, and lipid regulation. Located primarily at the plasma membrane, caveolin-1 contributes to the structural integrity of caveolae and is involved in the compartmentalization of signaling molecules, including G protein-coupled receptors. Additionally, caveolin-1 is implicated in various cellular functions such as the transcytosis of macromolecules, uptake of small molecules via potocytosis, and regulation of cholesterol homeostasis. Caveolin-1 monoclonal antibody (7C8) is available in both non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing flexibility for diverse experimental setups. Anti-caveolin-1 antibody (7C8) is recommended for researchers investigating the roles of caveolae in cellular physiology and pathology.

I just ordered the CAVEOLIN-1 ANTIBODY (7C8), but I'm not sure this one works for our mouse retina tissue samples, Can I hold this order now?

Asked by: susanz
Thank you for your question. Please contact our Customer Care Department directly to request to cancel or hold any orders. This antibody is recommended for detection of caveolin-1 in mouse samples. We have not specifically tested it for detection in retina tissue.

For your product, Caveolin-1 antibody (7C8), which residues does this bind to? I need an antibody for the c-terminus of Caveolin, and this is listed as the replacement for the discontinued 82-178 Cav-1 antibody. Thanks!

Asked by: Phil Esempio
Thank you for your question. The exact epitope recognized by this mouse monoclonal antibody, caveolin-1 (7C8): sc-53564, has not been characterized. However, it is known to recognize between amino acids 32 and the C-terminus of caveolin-1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WBWe used Caveolin-1 (7C8) antibody for WB in Human SCC25 cells, and it worked well. Just remember use 1/250 to get good signal. We used 1/500 and it was a bit weak. We used anti-mouse IgG.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Antibody did not work on Western BlotI did a Western Blot to compare this antibody with caveolin-1 Antibody (N-20): sc-894. While I had a very nice signal of discontinued antibody, the new monoclonal one did not give any signal even at dilution 1:200, though the loading controls looked well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good for western blottingGot a sample antibody and even at 1:100 with perfect GAPDH and a positive control was not successful for western blotting. Got one from source biosciences that worked fantastically well using the same samples at 1:500.
