caveolin-1 Antibody (7C8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that targets caveolin-1, also known as CAV1, a principal component of caveolae, small invaginations in the plasma membrane of various cell types. Anti-caveolin-1 antibody (7C8) is raised against purified Glut4 vesicles from adipocytes of rat origin, enabling the detection of caveolin-1 in mouse, rat, human, and, to a lesser extent, hamster samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Caveolin-1 plays a crucial role in the formation and function of caveolae, which are involved in processes like endocytosis, signal transduction, and lipid regulation. Located primarily at the plasma membrane, caveolin-1 contributes to the structural integrity of caveolae and is involved in the compartmentalization of signaling molecules, including G protein-coupled receptors. Additionally, caveolin-1 is implicated in various cellular functions such as the transcytosis of macromolecules, uptake of small molecules via potocytosis, and regulation of cholesterol homeostasis. Caveolin-1 monoclonal antibody (7C8) is available in both non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing flexibility for diverse experimental setups. Anti-caveolin-1 antibody (7C8) is recommended for researchers investigating the roles of caveolae in cellular physiology and pathology.
