Cathepsin 6 Antibody (J14h) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects cathepsin 6 protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cathepsin 6 antibody (J14h) is available as a non-conjugated format. Cathepsin 6 protein, a member of the C1A papain family of cysteine peptidases, plays a crucial role in the murine placenta, where it is exclusively expressed in labyrinthine trophoblastic cells. This specific localization is vital as it facilitates the gas and nutrient exchange between maternal and fetal blood, ensuring proper embryonic development. Additionally, cathepsin 6 may be involved in immunological modulation and the processing of secretory protein factors, highlighting its importance in both developmental and immune processes. Expression of cathepsin 6 is tightly regulated during mouse embryonic development, and cathepsin 6 is part of a cluster of placentally expressed cathepsin genes located on chromosome 13, which includes Cathepsin M, J/P, Q, R, 1, 2, 3, and 6. Notably, while these genes are present in mice and rats, homologs are absent in humans, making cathepsin 6 a unique target for studies in murine models.
