CAT-4 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CAT-4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CAT-4 Antibody (B-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. As a member of the amino acid transporter family, CAT-4 (cationic amino acid transporter 4), also known as Solute Carrier Family 7 Member 4, is a 635 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that plays a crucial role in the transport of cationic amino acids such as arginine, lysine, and ornithine. This transport mechanism, referred to as "system y+", is characterized by pH insensitivity, stereoselectivity, and independence from sodium ions, while being inhibited by neutral amino acids in the presence of sodium. CAT-4 expression is notably high in the testis, placenta, and brain, highlighting its importance in various physiological processes. Multiple transmembrane domains in CAT-4′s structure facilitate selective transport of critical amino acids across cellular membranes. Disruptions in the gene encoding CAT-4, located on a specific chromosomal band, have been linked to velocardiofacial syndrome (also known as DiGeorge syndrome), a condition marked by cardiac defects and distinctive facial features. This connection underscores CAT-4′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states, making anti-CAT-4 antibody (B-2) a valuable tool for researchers studying its role in health and disease.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-376557 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
