Caspase-2 inhibitor (Z-VDVAD-FMK) is a cell-permeable, irreversible inhibitor of caspase-2. Caspase inhibitors play an important role in investigating biological processes. The caspase family of proteins function as key components of the apoptotic machinery and act to destroy specific target proteins which are critical to cellular longevity. In a study of 7-ketocholesterol (sc-210630)-induced cell death and the association with polar lipid accumulation, the effects of Z-VDVAD-FMK on the lipid profile was evaluated by staining with Nile Red (sc-203747). Caspase-2 inhibitor has also been shown to inhibit programmed macrophage cell death induced by Brucella species gram-negative bacteria.

Purity: Single spot by TLC.
