CARF Antibody (14.4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CARF protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CARF antibody (14.4) is available as the non-conjugated format. CARF, or calcium-response factor, also known as ALS2CR8 (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 2 chromosomal region candidate gene 8 protein) or NYD-SP24, is a 725 amino acid nuclear protein predominantly expressed in various tissues, with highest levels found in the hippocampus. CARF monoclonal antibody (14.4) recognizes a protein that plays a crucial role as a transcription factor interacting with the p53 tumor suppression pathway, which is vital for regulating cell cycle control and mediating responses to DNA damage. Notably, CARF is involved in apoptotic signaling through cooperation and co-localization with ARF, an ADP-ribosylation factor, thereby influencing cellular development and aging process. The significance of CARF extends to potential involvement in familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 2, a severe neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor neuron degeneration, highlighting the importance of understanding its function and interactions. Additionally, two isoforms of CARF arise from alternative splicing, further emphasizing the complexity and regulatory potential of this protein in cellular processes.

I am using CARF (14.4): sc-101206 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

    Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
