    SEE ALSO...

Cardiotin Antibody (R2G) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa light chain antibody that detects Cardiotin protein of mouse, rat, human, porcine, Xenopus, avian, feline, and canine origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-Cardiotin antibody (R2G) is available as the non-conjugated form. Cardiotin protein is a high molecular weight complex located in the mitochondrial membrane, playing a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity and function of cardiac muscle cells. Cardiotin′s structure consists of two subunits that share a highly conserved N-terminal 14 amino acid sequence, showing significant homology to human skeletal muscle α-actinin. This structural similarity suggests that Cardiotin forms a tetrameric transmembrane complex, with N-terminus positioned on the cytoplasmic side of the membrane, allowing effective interaction with actin filaments. Such interactions are vital for proper cardiac contractility and cellular signaling. During instances of cardiac contractile dysfunction, Cardiotin distribution is altered in pathological cardiomyocytes, such as those found in chronic ischemic myocardium. Cardiotin monoclonal antibody (R2G) can be utilized in immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP) to detect disturbances in mitochondrial activity within cardiomyocytes, particularly in conditions like chronic ischemia or chronic atrial fibrillation, making this tool essential for researchers studying cardiac health and disease.
