CaMKIγ Antibody (10G8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CaMKIγ protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CaMKIγ antibody (10G8) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. The Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (CaMKs) are a crucial subfamily of serine/threonine kinases, and CaMKIγ, also known as VWS1 or CLICKIII, plays a significant role in cellular signaling pathways. This 476 amino acid protein localizes primarily in the cytoplasm and Golgi apparatus membrane, essential for regulating various cellular processes. The Golgi apparatus is vital for protein sorting and modification, and CaMKIγ presence in this organelle suggests involvement in post-translational modifications of proteins, including phosphorylation. CaMKIγ shows predominant expression in the brain, with lower levels in the spleen, liver, kidney, and skeletal muscle, functioning as a calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase that utilizes ATP to phosphorylate target proteins, such as transcription factor CREB-1. Multiple alternatively spliced isoforms of CaMKIγ, encoded by a gene on human chromosome 1, further highlight its complexity and potential regulatory roles in various physiological processes.
