Calsequestrin 1 Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects calsequestrin 1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-calsequestrin 1 antibody (D-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calsequestrin 1, also known as Calmitin, plays a crucial role in calcium homeostasis within muscle cells by sequestering calcium ions in the lumen of the sarcoplasmic reticulum, which is essential for muscle contraction and relaxation. Calsequestrin 1 is predominantly found in the terminal cisternae of the sarcoplasmic reticulum in fast-twitch skeletal muscle cells, where calsequestrin 1 helps regulate calcium release during excitation-contraction coupling. Proper functioning of calsequestrin 1 is vital for maintaining calcium levels, and any dysregulation can lead to muscle disorders or cardiac dysfunction. Calsequestrin 1 interacts with other proteins such as Triadin and Junctin, which are involved in the signaling pathways that control the ryanodine receptor, further emphasizing calsequestrin 1′s importance in muscle physiology.
