Calponin 1 Antibody (0.N.39) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Calponin 1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Calponin 1 is a crucial actin- and tropomyosin-binding protein that plays a significant role in regulating smooth muscle contraction and serves as a marker for smooth muscle cell differentiation. Anti-Calponin 1 antibody (0.N.39) targets proteins primarily located in smooth muscle tissues, where Calponin 1 interacts with F-Actin to inhibit actomyosin activity, thereby modulating muscle contraction. Calponin 1′s function lies in maintaining the contractile state of smooth muscle, which is essential for various physiological processes, including blood vessel regulation and gastrointestinal motility. Calponin 1 activity can be altered through post-translational modifications, particularly phosphorylation at Serine 175 by protein kinase C or calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II, which leads to a loss of inhibitory properties. The presence of three distinct forms—Calponin 1, Calponin 2, and Calponin 3—highlights functional diversity across different tissues, with Calponin 2 also found in heart muscle and Calponin 3 in the brain, further emphasizing Calponin 1′s critical role in muscle physiology and cellular signaling.
