Calpain 9 Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Calpain 9 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Calpain 9 is a member of a family of 14 intracellular calcium-activated cysteine proteases, which play crucial roles in various cellular processes, including apoptosis, cell migration, and cytoskeletal remodeling. The importance of Calpain 9 is underscored by involvement in cardiovascular diseases, as Calpain 9 is significantly downregulated in the heart under high salt diet conditions, potentially contributing to hypertensive target organ damage. Additionally, Calpain 9 has been identified as a gastric cancer suppressor, as Calpain 9 expression is reduced in gastric cancer cell lines, indicating a protective role against tumorigenesis in the digestive tract. Notably, Calpain 9 exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, which differ in their amino acid sequences between residues 292 and 318, suggesting that these variations may influence functional properties and interactions with other proteins. Anti-Calpain 9 antibody (E-6) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the multifaceted roles of this protease in health and disease.
