    SEE ALSO...

Calpain 7 Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Calpain 7 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Calpain 7 antibody (B-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calpain 7, also known as CAPN6 or PalBH, is a member of the non-EF-hand subfamily of calpains and is characterized by a unique structure, which includes a long N-terminal domain and a PalB homologous domain flanking the protease domain. This atypical calpain, which consists of 813 amino acids, exhibits only 26-35% sequence identity with other calpain family members, primarily within the protease domain, highlighting its divergence and potential specialized functions. Calpain 7 is predominantly expressed in the brain and is localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, with activated forms found exclusively in the nucleus. Unique structure and localization are crucial for Calpain 7′s role in cellular processes, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases. Upregulation of Calpain 7 in striatal or cortical tissues of Huntington′s Disease knock-in mice suggests involvement in disease onset, making Calpain 7 a significant target for research into therapeutic interventions.
