Calpain, an intracellular calcium-dependent protease, plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including cytoskeletal reorganization and muscle protein degradation, making Calpain essential for maintaining cellular integrity and function. Calpain exists as a heterodimer, consisting of a small regulatory subunit and one of three large catalytic subunits: calpain 1, calpain 2, and calpain p94.
