CA IV Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects carbonic anhydrase IV (CA IV) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CA IV (E-6) antibody recognizes a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored enzyme located on the outer surface of the plasma membrane, primarily found on the plasma face of microcapillaries and in the choriocapillaris of the human eye. This strategic localization allows CA IV to effectively catalyze the hydration and dehydration of carbon dioxide and bicarbonate, playing a vital role in maintaining acid-base balance and facilitating renal acidification in the kidney. CA IV (E-6) monoclonal antibody targets a protein involved in regulating interstitial pH transients in the brain, which is essential for proper neuronal function. Disruption in CA IV targeting can lead to impaired bicarbonate secretion, which is associated with dysfunction in cystic fibrosis cells. As a member of the carbonic anhydrase family, CA IV is a zinc metalloenzyme that contributes to various physiological processes, including respiration, calcification, and the formation of aqueous humor, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastric acid, highlighting its importance in both health and disease.
