C3a Antibody (K13/16) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against complement protein factor C3a of human origin. C3a, also known as anaphylatoxin C3a, is a key fragment derived from the post-translational cleavage of complement component 3 (C3), which is central to the activation of the complement system in innate immunity. This cleavage is a crucial post-translational modification that transforms inactive C3 into active fragments C3a and C3b, enabling them to participate in immune responses. C3a functions as a potent anaphylatoxin, binding to the C3a receptor (C3aR) on various immune cells to mediate inflammation, chemotaxis, and cytokine release. The generation of C3a through this modification is essential for initiating and regulating inflammatory responses against pathogens. Additionally, C3a can be further processed into C3a(desArg), also known as acylation-stimulating protein (ASP), which plays a role in lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis. Anti-C3a antibody (K13/16) detects C3a, C3a(desArg), and intact C3 of human origin without cross-reacting with other complement components like C4a or C5a in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). By targeting these critical fragments, C3a (K13/16) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying complement activation, immune regulation, and associated pathophysiological conditions.
